Core Principles: (These are standards we will not abandon) The Lordship Principle: The personal appropriation of the saving work of Christ. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God—not the result of works, so that no one may boast.” --Ephesians 2:8, 9
The Biblical Principle: The ongoing evidence of a changing life and pursuit of Christlikeness. “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" --2 Peter 3:18a
The Covenant Principle: Participation in the body of Christ and connection with others in significant relationships. “Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts.” --Acts 2:46
The Servanthood Principle: Serving Christ’s body according to spiritual giftedness and passion. "Now there are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but it is the same Holy Spirit who is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service in the church, but it is the same Lord we are serving. There are different ways God works in our lives, but it is the same God who does the work through all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us as a means of helping the entire church.” --1 Corinthians 12:4-7 (NLT)
The Prayer Principle: Growing in an intimate and constant communion and conversation with God through prayer. “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” --1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
The Stewardship Principle: Honoring God with one’s material resources and supporting the church using the biblical precedent of the tithe as a goal to reach or exceed as God prospers. “Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing.” --Malachi 3:10
The Worship Principle: A Christian is someone who has heard the call of Jesus to “follow me.” In obedience to Jesus’ invitation, Christians now gather with others who have heard the same invitation. "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” --Hebrews 10:25 (NIV)
